Dr. Dijkstra started working with Athletes while living in the Netherlands when he was a paid chiropractic physician for a Dutch Soccer Team for a few years. He was also a team physician for a first division Rugby team for eight years. He traveled with the teams through northern Europe as the teams competed and participated in tournaments. In an endeavor to provide better care, Dr. Dijkstra started an advanced chiropractic sports education through FICS, The International Federation of Sports Chiropractic - the ICSC! In an effort to expand his knowledge, Dr. Dijkstra enrolled in a Master's Degree Sports and Rehabilitation program at the University of Bournemouth in Southern England. He felt that this gave more mainstream credibility while approaching teams in The Netherlands. In 2015 Dr. Dijkstra and his family relocated to New Jersey and he embarked on the gold standard of sports chiropractic education - the Diplomate degree from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. This incredible education (less than 500 certified DACBSP chiropractors in the world) has sharpened his sports injury diagnostic skills and honed his treatment plans. However, he was busy growing his family and practice and was unable to volunteer his time on the sideline until 2026. Now that his practice has expanded to include Dr. Mitolla, a former Div I basketball player, his family is more self-sufficient, he has been able to return to sports chiropractic and has been working and traveling with USA Fencing. He has had the honour of working with several past Olympians and many future ones! Drs. Dijkstra and Mitolla have been working with local high schools to provide Movement Screens and advising on injuries and prevention of future ones.
